Fancy Fishtails

The fishtail dress is currently having a moment on the red carpet, seen everywhere from the Met Ball in New York to the Cannes Film Festival. Not the most forgiving shape for us mere mortals, yet these finely-honed celebrities can pull it off with aplomb. Expect to see more of the fishtail trickling down from catwalk to red carpet to high street- its only a matter of time. Better tape your legs together now and start practising how to walk in a fishtail dress.

Hot Child In The City- Jeffrey Campbell Summer 2012

I absolutely adore Jeffrey Campbell. They are, quite simply, in their own league when it comes to footwear and no matter how many cheap copycats and knock-offs are created, they will never match the quality nor the reputation of the real deal. JC have created their very own style of shoes and opened up a whole new market of quirky, if nearly always impossible to walk in, footwear.
The latest lookbook from JC showcases exotic influences, lots of colour, tribal vibes and some damn fine shoes. I predict the neon green heels with silver capped toes- the Bullet 2- and the soft peacock wedge- the Landers- to sell out.

Chanel Resort 2013

As always, Chanel shows are the highlight of the season, always dripping in elegance and exuberance. The Chanel Resort 2013 collection was no exception. Held in Louis Quatorze's eighteenth-century court at the Palace of Versailles, often regarded as having some of the most beautiful and historic views in France, Karl displayed 12 months of blood, sweat and..well, tweed. The collection had an eighteenth-century slant not just because of the setting but with the heavy accessories, full skirts, intricate embroidery and britches on the boys. But it was delivered with a slice of irony, coupling delicate and feminine materials like tweed, chiffon and chambray with chunky gold flatform trainers and pastel wigs to a soundtrack of M.I.A'S "Bad Girls". It was a mash up of eighteenth-century frivolity and modern-day grunge. If Marie Antoinette was alive today, she would definitely be rocking pastels and a bad attitude, just like a true Chanel girl.
